Update: Important Update Regarding Shipments to the EU (Germany)
Germany No Longer Accepts DDU Imports
Effective October 23, 2026, German customs authorities no longer accept DDU (Delivered Duty Unpaid) imports. See the official UPU notice for details.
- GlobalPost DDU services (Economy and Standard) can no longer be used for shipments to Germany. Labels created with these services will return an error.
- Our DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) services, GlobalPost Plus and GlobalPost Plus (Duties and Taxes Included), remain available for Germany.
Our Recommendation
To promote a smoother delivery experience for cross-border shipments to the EU, we highly recommend using GlobalPost Plus and GlobalPost Plus (Duties and Taxes Included), and including your IOSS number.
Shippers who continue using IOSS DDU for parcels valued below €150 to other EU destinations may experience customs delays, potential returns, or additional customs fees. Any customs fees that GlobalPost receives will be passed on to our customers.
Previous Update: Effective July 1
New regulations took effect July 1 for shipments to the European Union. Please review the regional changes:
- Germany: Germany stopped accepting IOSS DDU parcels valued at less than €150. IOSS DDU shipments bound for Germany are returned. As of October 23, all DDU shipments to Germany are no longer accepted
- France: France-bound IOSS DDU parcels were accepted through the end of July, subject to a new €3 HS Code fee and any additional handling fees.
